19th C. French Provincial Louis Philippe Walnut Writing Table
An authentic piece of 19th-century French heritage, this beautiful French Provincial writing table (table à écrire) dates back to the Louis Philippe period (circa 1830–1850).
Sourced directly from France, the table perfectly balances rustic farmhouse charm with elegant, understated design.
Crafted entirely from premium, solid European walnut (Noyer), it showcases a tight, wavy grain and a rich, amber-brown patina earned over nearly two centuries of history. The table is characterized by clean, functional lines, beautifully proportioned ring-and-urn turned legs, and a smooth, flush-fitting single drawer on the side—originally intended to hold quills and inkwells.
At 70 cm high, its slightly lower silhouette is typical of the era, making it an incredibly versatile accent piece for the modern home. It serves beautifully as an intimate writing desk, a distinctive hall console, or a character-filled side table in a living or dining space.
Condition Report
Beautiful antique condition, structurally sound and full of authentic regional character. The solid walnut top features a stunning, naturally aged patina with light wear consistent with its 180-year history, adding immense historical charm and value. The drawer slides smoothly.
