This is a magnificent 19th-century French solid oak screw mechanism, originally part of an antique wine or book press and now perfectly repurposed as a striking rustic pedestal, plant stand, or industrial statement piece.
Standing at an impressive 128 cm high, this authentic piece of French rural history features a beautifully turned massive oak screw column arising from a heavily chiseled, multi-sided geometric base. The base includes its original lever hole, while the top has been expertly capped with a matching octagonal platform, making it entirely functional for displaying sculptures, heavy ceramics, or botanical arrangements.
The rich, deep amber patina highlights the dense, tight grain of the ancient French oak, showing centuries of honest character, tool marks, and weathering that reproduction pieces simply cannot replicate.
