Vintage Paris Bin "Poubelle"
Bring a piece of authentic Parisian charm straight into your home or garden.
This striking, mid-century French municipal street bin (corbeille de rue) is a rare find full of character. Sourced directly from France, it features a classic flared trumpet silhouette built from heavy-duty, welded flat iron straps. Resting on sturdy tripod feet, it has spent decades weathering the European elements—resulting in an incredible, authentic green patina (vert de Paris) and beautifully rusted highlights that cannot be replicated by modern reproductions.
While it began life keeping public parks tidy across France, it is ready for a second act in your home. It’s heavy, durable, and packed with rustic, architectural soul.
How to Style & Repurpose It:
Don't let its original municipal job fool you—this piece is a dream canvas for interior designers and avid gardeners alike:
- The Dramatic Garden Planter: Line the basket with thick coconut coir or traditional green moss, fill it with premium potting mix, and plant a spilling arrangement of lush ferns, cascading ivy, or colourful petunias.
- The Statement Entryway Piece: Position it by your front door or in a mudroom as a uniquely stylish, heavy-duty umbrella and walking stick stand.
- The Indoor Silhouette: Drop a potted trailing plant (like a pothos or string of pearls) inside the neck and let the vines weave through the open ironwork slats for an industrial-chic look.
