Large Vintage Italian Baroque Citrus Oil Painting – Hand-Painted Still Life Canvas (The Bimbi Citrus Study)

Large Vintage Italian Baroque Citrus Oil Painting – Hand-Painted Still Life Canvas (The Bimbi Citrus Study)

Introduce old-world European romance and grand scale to your interiors with this magnificent vintage oil painting. Measuring an impressive 101cm wide, this substantial piece is a masterful, entirely hand-painted 20th-century homage to the famous 1715 botanical masterpiece "Arance, limoni e cedri" by Florentine court artist Bartolomeo Bimbi.

Beautifully capturing the spirit of the Italian Baroque era, the painting depicts a lush, overflowing bounty of historic citrus varieties hanging from a rustic wooden trellis, intermingled with delicate white blossoms. At the baseline, an elegant, hand-painted scroll cartouche meticulously catalogs each fruit with delicate script, mirroring the numbered medallions throughout the canopy.

Unlike modern digital prints or canvas transfers, this is a true work of artisan craftsmanship. A close look reveals rich, layered brushwork, beautifully blended highlights on the fruit rinds, and a soft, authentic vintage patina that gives it the unmistakable character of a prized gallery find.
