Vintage Mid-Century French Impressionist Landscape Oil Painting on Board – Signed "Ségéric"
Bring the timeless charm of the French countryside into your home with this striking mid-century original oil painting. Hand-sourced directly from France, this exceptional artwork beautifully captures a rustic regional hamlet nestled quietly beneath a towering, atmospheric mountain plateau.
Executed with a bold, post-impressionist eye, the artist—signed Ségéric in the lower-left corner—uses a heavy, deliberate impasto technique. The thick, sculpted ridges of paint give incredible tactile depth to the terracotta tiled roofs, stone cottages, and dense olive-green tree canopies, catching the light dynamically from every angle.
The organic, earthy palette relies on deep forest greens, soft ochres, and muted slate-greys, rendering a scene full of serene, post-war character. Showing beautiful, authentic horizontal craquelure (fine micro-cracking) across the paint layer, this piece carries the unmistakable soul, patina, and story of a genuine 1950s European find. A perfect focal piece for modern, rustic, or eclectic gallery walls.
